The TWA curriculum has one goal in mind... to create the best in ring talent possible.
And that will come thru a little hard work, focus and dedication.
And we start from the ground up.
New talent will go thru a rigorous week of cardio training. This cardio training will also be mixed in the usual day to day activites as well, You dont have to be the greatest wrestler in the world, but if you can spend time in the ring, and not get gassed, you are of value.
Next, and the ground work, is the basics. Falls, getting up, b eing at the right place at the right time, ring awareness, timing, pacing, acting, reacting, body language etc etc etc. all of those are tools, trick of the trade so to speak that will help you be the best you can be.
At no point are potential stars forced to perform tasks for the 'shits and giggles' or to quit.
This is your dream, pursue it.
The basics or fundamentals are stressed. Story telling, psychology, manipulating emotions, fan interaction, as well as charactorization, persona, good guy, bad guy and ring presence is taught and how to put it all together within a match.
Once the students comprehend structering a match, they are tasked to put together their own matches, Students are directed to call matches in the ring according to the fans(other students) interaction.
Once the students have shown an understanding of how a match is structured, they are added to live events under the Texas Wrestling Entertainment banner.
Texas Wrestling Entertainment runs live events thru out Texas and the majority of the talent on those events are TWA talent.
The Lucha Libre and technical wrestling styles are also covered.
Talent is also given the chance to work on promos as well.
Certain training days are recorded or streamed live on social media
Once the talent is able to put all the elements together, cardio, timing, pacing, persona, psychology,
promos, ring presence, and are comfortable in doing so, they are sent on the road. Its great to be able to perform in front of family and friends, but its more important to get your face out to be seen in the wrestling community.
Road experience is a HUGE factor in development.
Some of the many many prmotions TWA talent have appeared on has been Booker T'in otrher parts of the country as wells Reality of Wrestling, WWE, Ring of Honor, EVOLVE, Shine, Stardom, New Japan, AEW, Impact, All Japan, AAA, SWE Wrestling and many many other local and regional promotions across the country
'"I say in all my lectures to build associations with good reputable people , Rudy Boy Gonzalez is as legit as they come"
- GABE SAPOLSKY, EVOLVE
“Spanky and American Dragon are two of the best wrestlers to come into the game in years, and Paul London looks to be following in their footsteps. You can see when so many guys like that come from the same school, it can’t be coincidence”.
-DAVE MELTZER, Wrestling Observer (www.wrestlingobserver.com)
“Rudy Boy visited and wrestled a number of times in Wildside but his true impact in Wildside and wrestling history in general is tied to the numerous wrestlers he brought on the road with him and the opportunities he gave them. Rudy trained wrestlers well and he did something most don’t and that was to bring them on the road to different, good places, where they could really learn in the ring with different, better wrestling talent. I’m glad Rudy thought Wildside, like ROH, was a destination that provided real opportunity for his trainees.
– 5/19/20 BILL BEHRENS
“best trainer and teacher in the sport. Extremely proud to have known him and been mentored by him. To this day, I still strive to make him proud.”
– 5/19/20 TODD SEXTON
“Rudy Boy Gonzalez and the Texas Wrestling Academy have produced several high quality talents. It’s one of the places I’ve recommended without hesitation to those who have asked about professional wrestling training.”
-JESS MCGRATH, 1Wrestling (www.1wrestling.com)
“The Texas Wrestling Academy has produced one quality talent after another. In fact, you could have a really good promotion with just the talent from the TWA. The men and women not only have what it takes in the ring, but the proper etiquette and attitude in the locker room. You will learn things the right way, and Head Trainer Rudy Boy Gonzalez cares about his students, and makes sure they have a good start in this business with his numerous connections. If you are really serious about being a wrestler, you will go to the TWA”.
-GABE SAPOLOSKY, Ring of Honor, Dragon Gate, EVOLVE Promoter (www.wwnlive.com)
