About Us
In The Beginning
In early 1999, WWE Superstar Shawn Michaels along with his mentor Jose Lothario, Ken Johnson and Rudy Gonzalez opened the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy in San Antonio, Tx.
Shortly after opening, Lothario and Johnson departed, leaving only Michaels and Gonzalez to run the day to day operations.
In April of 2001, Michaels re-signed his contract with WWE, leaving the SMWA to Gonzalez, who renamed the school the TEXAS WRESTLING ACADEMY.
Trainer Of The Stars
The tandem of Michaels and Gonzalez proved to be a successful one as several individuals went on to bigger stages.
During the SMWA tenure, 4 indivuals were signed to World Wrestling Entertainment, Bryan Danielson, Shooter Schultz, Brian Kendrick and Lance Cade. and Michael Shane ventured onto Ring of Honor, Zero 1, and Total Non-Stop Action, while during the TWA days , Paul London also appeared in RoH, Zero 1, WWE and Lucha Underground. The team of Kendrick and London became WWE Tag Team Champions, while Danielson became WWE World Champion, Hernandez has appeared in TNA, AAA, and Lucha Underground, Dragon Gate star Milano Collection AT attended the TWA at the urging of WWE star Sho Funaki, appeared in RoH, TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Masada has become an icon in the hardcore wrestling genre. Victoria Gonzalez, (Raquel Gonzalez) is currently enjoying her time in NXT.
Several others who are making names for themselves at the independemt level including Moonshine Mantell, Terral Tempo, Max Castellanos, Alex Gracia, and Myka Madrid are all on the 'radar' for various higher level promotions.
Rudy Gonzalez has been brought in as a WWE Guest trainer on 3 occasions.

What Makes the TWA Different.
The TWA is different than many many ‘wrestling schools’ that you may come across.
Gonzalez brings almost 40yrs of experience every time he steps in the ring. His experience includes stints with WCW, AAA, WWF/E, Mexico, Lucha Libre, Stromg Style and much more.
It is very well known Gonzalez stands behind his 'product’, going so far as to even travel with them to various events across the country
And The Journey Begins
Once the talent is able to put all the elements together, cardio, timing, pacing, persona, psychology,
promos, ring presence, and are comfortable in doing so, they are sent on the road. Its great to be able to perform in front of family and friends, but its more important to get your face out to be seen in the wrestling community.
Road experience is a HUGE factor in development.
